2. KENJUTSU 劍術

Takeda Tokimune wroted :

[...] Because of the fundamental principle that only with the pratice of the jujutsu it is not possible to learn the true essence of the Daito-ryu, I called the art Daito-ryu Aikibudo, especially because I, who have trained with my father even in the body to body than in the sword, perfectly realize to have to transmit the Ono-ha Itto-ryu kenjutsu which was transmitted at Aizu together the aikijujutsu, arts that are now only here with us (at Abashiri) [...]

The technical program of the kenjutsu is separated in 4 sections:

1. Kendonogata
Kendonogata : 10 kata. These kata were developed in the modern Showa age (1911), and were created by most of the kenjutsu schools of the period with the purpose of having a common ground on which to confront themselves. After their creation every kenjutsu master should have taught them together with the kata of each one's specific schools. Today, in the Abashiri dojo and consequently in our Association, we still keep this tradition. These kata are divided in two sections: in the first one there are 7 techniques of katana versus katana; in the second there are 3 techniques of kodachi against katana.

2. Gogyonogata
Gogyonogata : 5 kata. These techniques are a transition system between kendo and Ono-ha Itto-ryu. Originally part of the Itto-ryu curriculum they include some of the movements, concepts and strategies of the more advanced kata of the Ono-ha Itto-ryu.

3. Ono-ha Itto-ryu Takeda-den
Ono-ha Itto-ryu : After the defeat of the clan Aizu in the battle of Aizu-Wakamatsu (1868), a lot of original techniques of kenjutsu of the Daito have been lost. Takeda Sokaku has so introduced in the School the program of studies of the Ono-ha Itto-ryu kenjutsu largely diffused in the clan Aizu.

4. Daito-ryunogata
Daito-ryu: 20 kata. These are the only original Daito School kata that were transmitted to our times.

3. Ono-ha Itto-ryuimg
