TECHNICAL PROGRAMS

The program of teaching of the School Daito is very vast and understands all of this that the bushi of the clan Takeda-Aizu studied. It is necessary to underline that this program was turned to military professionals which devoted everything of their time to the study and the improvement of the techniques of fight. The beginner begins with the study of the Jujutsu together with the Kenjutsu up to the degree of 2nd dan; subsequently will be introduced to the study of the other weapons.

The program is separated in three areas :

  • AIKIJUJUTSU
  • KENJUTSU
  • ONO-HA ITTO-RYU
  • OTHER WEAPONS

The European Daito Ryu Aikibudo Daito Kai is a School that teaches a complete martial art, among the hand-to-hand combat techniques with atemiwaza (kicks, strikes, elbow hits etc.), nagewaza (throws), shimewaza (strangles), kansetsuwaza (joint-locks), kyushowaza (pressure on vital points of the human body) and aikinojutsu (throws), the practitioner studies the use of all the ancient weapon of the bushi (like katana, yari, bo etc.). The many techniques of the aikijujutsu (over 3.000 techniques) are transmitted and catalogued in scrolls (densho) which, in this case of the “Hiden mokuroku”, is divided in a series (kajo), of an increasing difficulty of execution.

Ono-ha Itto-ryu is a traditional kenjutsu school (a sub-style of the Itto School) created around 1580 by Ono Tadaaki (1565-1628). Ono was a disciple of Ito Ittosai, who in turn founded the Ittoryu. Ono-ha Itto-ryu was the Shogun’s kenjutsu school until the Meiji restoration (1868). The senior captains and commanders of the Tokugawa Shogun guards came from the Aizu clan that were taught this Kenjutsu stile.Takeda Sokaku (1860-1943) learned this sword style not from his family, but from Toma Shibuya in Aizu at the Yokikan dojo.
